Michael Fieldhouse Barratt, born on 3 January 1928, was an English tv presenter and journalist.
He was most effective identified for his period as the major presenter of Nationwide from 1969 to 1977.
Michael Barratt was born in Leeds, West Driving of Yorkshire. His father, Wallace Barratt, was a tax inspector, whilst Doris, his mother died of tuberculosis when her son was aged 6.
Barratt was educated at Rossall College, an impartial boys’ school close to Fleetwood, Lancashire, and at Paisley Grammar University in Scotland. After leaving school, he turned a journalist for Kemsley Newspapers.
In 1956, he moved to Nigeria for a calendar year possessing been appointed as the assistant editor of the Nigerian Citizen in Zaria.
Barratt also worked for the Nigerian Broadcasting Assistance commencing a discussion programme on politics.

Barratt died in the Thames Hospice in Berkshire on 10 July 2022.
