She was originally born Alia Advani, but before the 2014 release of her first movie, Fugly, she changed her first name to Kiara.

Her decision to choose that name was motivated by Priyanka Chopra’s portrayal of Kiara in the movie Anjaana Anjaani (2010). Alia Bhatt has claimed that Salman Khan suggested she alter her name since she was already a well-known actress.

By way of her maternal family, Advani is connected to numerous famous people. Her aunt is the model Shaheen Jaffrey, and her step-great-grandfather and great-uncle are the actors Ashok Kumar and Saeed Jaffrey.
