The Lady Suzanne owned by Ron Lynn and captained by Jay Green with angler Brian Belvin took top honours in the overall division at the Third Annual Turks & Caicos Classic held this past June 16 - 20 at Turtle Cove Marina. Sixteen boats competed in this years Classic with an outstanding total of 35 Blue Marlin releases.

The Blue Marlin caught by Brian Belvin aboard the Lady Suzanne measured 109" in length and weighed in at 496 lbs. Brian also received the trophy for High Point Angler and Angler Landing the Largest Blue Marlin. The all girl crew aboard John Mecoms' Drumbeat took First Place Release. The race for Second Place Release was a close one with Black Magic just edging out Sea Horse for the award, leaving third place to the Sea Horse.

Algae Deans' Gwod Phrienz took home the trophies for both the largest Wahoo and the Largest Tuna, with Del Boy receiving the award for Largest Dolphin.

Top Lady Angler award went to Cathy Thigpen aboard the Sea Horse and Top Junior Angler was received by Brandon O'Neill of Provo. There was a large crowd under the tent at the Marina every night. The Rotary Club did and outstanding job of organizing the food and bar each night. Chris Rigby provided the entertainment ranging from the Junkanoo to great DJ music for dancing.

It was a very successful tournament on many fronts, but none more so than when the Classic Director Art Pickering presented the Rotary Club President, Mickey Shoulak, with a check for $4,475.00 from proceeds raised from the betting pool. The committee thanks all who gave their time and effort in helping to produce a fun, fair and successful tournament. Special appreciation is extended to Texaco Caribbean, the Official Sponsor of the Turks and Caicos Classic and to Kalik Beer for their generous donation. This example of tournament and community participation is what the Classic is all about.
